Naked and Afraid: Apocalypse Puts Survivalists to the Test in Limpopo

Naked and Afraid: Apocalypse
Naked and Afraid: Apocalypse premieres on Discovery Channel Africa on 24 September @ 20:05 CAT

Discovery Channel’s hit franchise Naked and Afraid heads to South Africa for its toughest challenge yet. The new spin-off, Naked and Afraid: Apocalypse, premieres Wednesday, 24 September at 20:05 CAT on Discovery Channel Africa (DStv 121).

This season, twelve seasoned survivalists are dropped into Limpopo province — a scorched wasteland of ghost towns, cemeteries, junkyards, and mine shafts. With scarce resources, searing heat, and constant threats from predators such as lions, leopards, hyenas, and venomous snakes, the contestants must scavenge the ruins to survive.

Unlike previous editions, contestants won’t simply be extracted at the end of their 35-day ordeal. Instead, they must escape the hostile terrain and find their own way back to civilisation. It’s a first for the franchise, raising the stakes higher than ever.

The cast features returning veterans Steven Lee Hall Jr., Amber Hargrove, and Waz Addy, alongside newcomers from across the globe, including the US, UK, and Australia. Their survival skills will be tested against Limpopo’s punishing climate, where summer temperatures soar above 40°C, drought is relentless, and even man-made hazards like rusted metal and broken glass add to the danger.

Since its debut in 2013, Naked and Afraid has become one of Discovery Channel’s most successful properties. With Apocalypse, the franchise pushes its limits by immersing contestants in South Africa’s unforgiving wilderness and demanding they fight not only to survive, but to find their way out.
